Innocents Lost is a free live-action roleplaying game. This means there is no charge to play in the games we host but you will need to buy books to learn how to play. We may post House Rules here but we will not post the game rules.
You must be 21 and older to play in IL. Please read all the following.
Step One: Contact the ST
Drop me an email at and let me know you're interested in playing. Until the contact form is up and running though, you'll need to jot down that email address and type it in manually. We don't like spambots.
The Storyteller will lead you through the process.
Step Two: Understand the rules
I don't mean the rules in the books. I mean the rules of participating in the game.
RoW is comprised of mature adults with little to no tolerance for childish behavior. We do this for fun, not to escape into the world of fantasy. While the game may feature mature themes like death and the undying, we like to keep things light-hearted on the out-of-character level. To that end, all we want to do is tell a story. If your character dies, for example, don't mope about it or even argue the rules. Accept it -- it's a storyt telling game and chances are your character contributed heavily to the story! Now use your creativity and create something new, come back and dazzle us with your RP genius.
Step Three: Create the character
You've contacted the ST and he gave you the green light to create a character. Furthermore, you understand that this isn't a place to come and create a min/max character or a place to come and argue rules.
But if you're reading this before contacting the ST, good job! Here are some tips that are almost guaranteed to get your character approved right off the bat:
- They are of one of the five main clans: Daeva, Gangrel, Mekhet, Nosferatu or Ventrue
- The points are distributed intelligently on the sheet so that at a glance one could tell something about the character. Being an expert on something is fine! Doctors do exist, after all.
- You included weaknesses -- no one is perfect. This could mean some insecurity, a bigoted outlook, a physical ailment or handicap, low intelligence, etc. Be creative and be ready to roleplay it!
- You demonstrated creativity in character creation by utilizing the average instead of gunning right for the rare; don't choose something right off the bat that most people wouldn't have. Take the standard and do something special with that instead -- that takes guts.
And here's how not to get a character approved:
- The character is heavily weighted in one area without a corresponding weakness
- You argued about your character
- You're coming to show off your knowledge of the rules more than your ability to contribute to a story
We welcome creative folks willing to take chances with their characters. If you feel relying too much on the rules can be a crutch, chances are you're the type of player we'd like to add to our troupe.
Come take a chance in the night. Join the Requiem.
